Carol Buckmann Weighs in on Target-Date Funds in PLANSPONSOR Magazine Article

Carol Buckmann, co-founding partner of Buckmann & Cohen LLP, was quoted in the article, “The Case for a Process,” published in the February-March 2020 issue of PLANSPONSOR magazine. The article examines several lawsuits filed by retirement plan participants and the claims and arguments associated with them. In the article, Carol explains that she expects to see an increase in lawsuits involving target-date funds due to a lack of understanding of how they work on the part of plan fiduciaries and their failure to do thorough fund searches before selecting a fund. As an example of this, she cites a suit filed against Walgreen Co. in August 2019.
