Lawdragon has selected the firm’s co-founder and managing partner Sandra Cohen to its 2025 Lawdragon 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know guide. This inaugural list recognizes law firm leaders who are not only exceptional lawyers but also effective strategists, mentors and visionaries, “embracing enthusiastic, creative, driven and intelligent approaches to law firm growth, performance, management and vision.” Of the 100 managing partners recognized, 31 female law firm leaders made the list.
Sandra launched Cohen & Buckmann in 2016 with the belief that smaller companies deserve the same caliber of executive compensation and benefits counsel as Wall Street firms offer. Their issues are equally complex, highly personal and critical to talent retention, but often underserved by traditional legal models.
With longtime colleague, ERISA attorney Carol Buckmann, Sandra built a firm that delivers sophisticated legal advice in executive compensation, ERISA and employment law, and a workplace where lawyers can thrive at the highest level outside the constraints of Big Law.
Sandra is known for deal-making and pragmatic problem-solving on private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, employment contract negotiations and incentive and deferred compensation strategies. She is ranked Band 1 by Chambers USA, and was named one of the Top 50 Women Attorneys in New York by Super Lawyers for 2025.
